Welcome to Third Coast Comics

Welcome to Summer at Third Coast Comics!

It looks like we're going to spend a lot of it watching it rain so why not do that with great comics!

Here's what's coming up next!

Guardians of the Galaxy Early Screening

Thursday July 31st at 8:00 PM (check in) for 10:00 PM movie

Comics Fans! Our next midnight movie outing is upon us!

8:00 PM Meet in the bar
9:00 PM Take seats and Deploy Personal Bartender
10:00 PM Deploy Ray Guns and Robots and see the movie

The Cinemark Evanston 18 has been kind enough to offer us our own private theater for this event.
For those over 21, we will also be allowed to purchase and take adult beverages into the theater.
You'll still have to buy tickets (from us) and pay for your own snacks/drinks (at the bar).

For tickets, come to Third Coast Comics, pay and get added to the guest list or PayPal me at docmidnight@gmail.com

The cost is $12 to make sure the theater gets it's ticket cost and to cover PayPal fees and other logistical things.

When you arrive, check in at the Rhythm Room bar inside the theater.

Shortly thereafter we'll begin giveaways and other festivities!

Travel Note:
With a 10:00 start more people should be able to catch Purple Line trains south, which alleviates a few travel headaches.

Edgefest 2014 (Thorndale & Broadway)

Saturday & Sunday August 2nd and 3rd
10:00 - 6:00 both days with Karaoke on Saturday Night

Edgewater's signature street fest is back for it's 3rd year and we're appearing at it again! Come see us at the corner of Broadway and Elmdale and say hello and check out some great graphic novels.

Edgefest is just a few blocks from the shop and Third Coast Comics is sponsoring the Karaoke on the South stage at 8PM.

Edgewater Run/Walk 5K

Sunday September 28th at 8:00 AM

Join Third Coast Comics in this great fundraiser! We plan to run representing our geek love to the fullest. Runners/Walkers on the TCC team are encouraged to participate in CosPlay or any other nerdy way they can come up with! Lets do this!

Join us for the first annual Edgewater Back to School 5k Run/Walk! Celebrate our community and view historic sites along the lakefront path while raising money for 11 local schools. A portion of each registration fee will go to benefit the school of the runner’s choice. Many graduates from our schools stay in the community; invest in our future!

Whether you want to get moving with your family, your friends, or your dog, the Edgewater 5k is for you. Gather post-race for snacks and massages, then head to brunch at one of our local spots and return to Granville Ave. for the Edgewater Fall Art Fair featuring over 90+ artist, two stages and a beer garden.

There is no shortage to post-race brunch options in Edgewater! Stay close and dine on Granville Ave., or stretch your legs and head south to Bryn Mawr Ave. Either way, you won’t be disappointed!

Sunday, September 28 — Click here to register now!

Early Bird (before Aug. 3) $40/ Regular (after Aug. 3) $45

$5 of your registration fee goes to the Edgewater school of your choice!

Timed 5k Run: 8:00 a.m.

5k Run/Walk: 8:05 a.m.

5k Run/Walk with your dog: 8:10 a.m.

Edgewater Fall Art Fair: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

About the course:

The race route begins in front of the historic Sovereign Apartments at Granville and Kenmore and heads east to Sheridan Road. Runners will head south on Sheridan Road, a rare opportunity to run in the street, as they are dwarfed by the towering lakefront high rise buildings! The route turns east at Ardmore to the northernmost part of the scenic lakefront path, heading south past Kathy Osterman Beach. The run will take participants back in time to the Roaring ‘20s, past the famed Edgewater Beach Building. Rounding the corner of the Foster Beach concessions, the route meanders along the lakefront before turning around and heading back through the park.

About the beneficiaries:

The 48th Ward is home to nine elementary schools and two high schools, collectively serving more than 6.000 students.  Reflecting the incredible diversity of Edgewater, kids in our local schools represent hundreds of countries around the world and speak over 75 different languages.  Despite great challenges, our local schools have achieved marked success through the highest CPS level 1 ratings to the National Blue Ribbon Award with expanded IB programs and innovative arts partnerships.  Funds raised by the Edgewater 5k Run/Walk will go toward providing expanded educational opportunities such as arts and sports programs.
